Twitter Has A Big Month, Grows To Over 8 Million U.S. Users Posted: 06 Mar 2009 09:10 AM PST
Essentially the poll was split down the middle for the most part. Facebook has been forced into an interesting position as Twitter essentially “out opened” them by launching an unfiltered API service early on. Facebook is on a path toward openness but it doesn’t appear to be slowing Twitter’s growth. At this rate, the company could have over 100 million users by the end of the year if they keep growing at 33 percent monthly. More realistically I’d estimate that the company will end up closer to 50 million users by the end of the year. Regardless, this is huge growth, mimicking some of the early growth experienced by Facebook which has skyrockets to over 175 million users. With all this growth, Twitter is bound to receive a few more acquisition offers by the end of the year despite the recession. How many users do you think Twitter will have by the end of the year? Do you think the company will be acquired before the year is over? |
